7-8 Math
I graduated from Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park, New York in 1988
I graduated from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1992
I graduated with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University
I began teaching at Continental in 1995 when I was hired as the elementary special education teacher. In that capacity I also ran the special needs preschool program and had a three-year stint as a Kindergarten teacher. I then moved down to the middle school as the math/science teacher from 2002-2004. In 2004 I was given the decision to teach math or science full-time. I chose math and have loved teaching it ever since.
Before I came to Continental, I taught for three years at Sopori Elementary as a special education teacher for grades fourth and fifth. I loved it there but decided to make the change to Continental School.
I did my student teaching in Las Cruces, New Mexico at Mayfield High School. I spent an entire semester in a high school self-contained classroom with special needs students that were emotionally disturbed and behavior disordered.
I was married in New York on July 11, 1992 to Christopher Fanning.
We have four children:
Connor (27), Kevin (24), Colin (21) and Corinne (18)
The Fanning’s have a long and proud history with Continental School. All four of my children went to school here; a nice tradition since their father also attended Continental School. My husband’s father, David Fanning, was also on the school board. The school gymnasium is named after him after he died unexpectedly in 1996 while still serving on the school board.
In 2017 we rescued an adorable puppy named Bailey from the Animal League and she has been an important part of our family ever since.
I began teaching in the fall of 1992. My first three years I was a special ed teacher at Sopori Elementary in Amado. I was then hired at Continental in 1995 and have been here ever since. This is my twenty-sixth year here at Continental and my twenty-ninth year in teaching overall. I have been happily married for twenty-eight years to my husband Christopher. He is a teacher/coach at Sahuarita High School. We have four wonderful children and have loved raising our family in the Sahuarita area. When not teaching, I like to travel, read, and watch movies.
