ELL Coordinator/Teacher
Bachelor’s Degree – SJSU
Master’s Degree – NAU
Hello – I have been teaching at Continental Elementary School for about 17 years. I am currently the ELL Coordinator and teacher for K – 8.
I have taught; ELL(ESL), after Kinder program, 1st, 2nd, and 4th. One exciting opportunity I had, came when I was asked to help develop the first Spanish Immersion Elementary School Program several years ago. Currently, I am the English Language Teacher. I am focused on providing an innovative, fun, and inspiring classroom. I help encourage students to improve their English while also nurturing their love of the language. I am committed to finding new methods to get better results and improve the EL program.
A small glimpse of our school’s EL program is as follows: we are currently using one of the new Structured English Immersion (SEI) models for Arizona's language development approach called the Pull Out Model. Our goal for this model, is to see students everyday at specific times either in their classroom or in the designated EL classroom. Both the homeroom teacher and EL teacher work together to support the students.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
I’m originally from Santa Cruz, California and am happily married to a musician and middle school math teacher. We have two beautiful daughters who once attended Continental. My oldest has graduated from college and my little one is a Senior in high school. We also have puppy and we are really enjoying our time with him!
